Yes much better with subwoofer!

Thunderous bass! Well balanced and natural sound. Perfect combo with Yamaha matched monitors for home or even professional production and audio monitoring. Great product.

Parfait.

I have a pair of HS5s, and I felt for some time that some BASS was missing. I always had to tweak the EQ on my V-Piano and bias the low frequencies. But now, the HS8s is adding a noticeable BASS line I don't need to fiddle. Also I got some HS7s to try the combinations as I heard they don't need the sub! However in my experience the HS8S subwoofer compliments the HS7s too. As the HS7s have rear facing woofer, its not easy to place them away from walls... but you can set the HS8S to filter the BASS away from the HS7s and let its forward facing woofer direct the BASS away from the wall behind.
