Korg Electribe Red — Sample-Based Groovebox for Fast Beat-Making

The Korg Electribe Red is the metallic-red edition of the Electribe Sampler, a sample-based music production station built to convert inspiration into a finished pattern as quickly as you can think. It pairs a deep PCM sample library with 16 analog modeling oscillators and three filters, so drum hits, loops, and melodic parts can be layered inside a single portable unit. A 16-pad velocity-sensitive sequencer combined with a Kaoss-style X/Y touch pad keeps every edit hands-on, while system version 2 adds pattern chain, undo, and 237 downloadable bonus patterns. This hardware sampler is the right choice for producers who want a tactile, standalone groovebox that bridges hardware jamming and Ableton Live editing.

What Sets This Hardware Sampler Apart

Unlike most grooveboxes, the unit lets you load any waveform from an SD card, edit start/end points, tune, time-slice, and resample — turning external records, instruments, or its own output into new material. The X/Y touch pad doubles as a Kaoss Pad-style master effect controller, so reverb, looper, and Seq Reverse can be performed live without menu diving. A built-in event recorder also captures every pad and touch gesture for instant playback of an entire performance.

Key Specifications for Beat-Makers

Built around a 24-voice polyphony engine running at 48 kHz with 24-bit AD/DA conversion, the chassis keeps sample playback clean even with layered parts. Memory, storage, and connectivity are tuned for both studio and stage use, while the zinc die-cast body holds up to gigging.

• Polyphony: 24 voices — enough headroom for full multi-part patterns without voice stealing
• Sample Memory: 499 user samples / ~270 seconds — store custom slices, edits, and resampled phrases
• Sequencer: 16 steps × 4, 16 parts, 250 patterns — supports pattern chain up to 250 patterns for full song arrangement
• Effects: 38 insert effects + 32 master effects — assignable per part, plus X/Y-controlled master performance
• Storage & Power: SD/SDHC up to 32 GB, AC adapter or 6 × AA (~5 h) — fully portable for street and stage
• Chassis: Zinc die cast, 339 × 189 × 45 mm, 1.6 kg — road-ready build in metallic red finish

Ideal Users for the Electribe Sampler Red

The Electribe Sampler Red suits electronic producers, beat-makers, and live performers who want a self-contained hardware sampler that doesn't require a laptop on stage. Hip-hop and house producers will appreciate the 920 preset samples drawn from collaborators like Sample Magic, Loopmasters, and Prime Loops, while live performers can lean on the X/Y touch pad, pattern chain, and MIDI/sync jacks to drive a multi-device rig. Sync I/O makes it easy to lock to volca units, an SQ-1, or a DAW, and the included Ableton Live Lite license lets sketches export cleanly into a project for final mixdown.

The Electribe Legacy in Metallic Red

The metallic-red finish is a deliberate nod to the original Electribe SX, continuing Korg's decades-long Electribe lineage that began with the ESX and EMX groove machines. System version 2 keeps the platform evolving with pattern chain, undo, and a library of 237 bonus patterns contributed by artists and sound designers worldwide.
