Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS LRL Candy Cola — A Return to the Accessible Fender Standard

The Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS LRL Candy Cola revives a price-conscious tier that disappeared when the Player Series took over. Part of Fender's 2025 Standard Series reintroduction, it earned Best of NAMM 2025 from All Things Gear. A poplar body in gloss polyurethane pairs with a bolt-on Modern "C" maple neck, while the Candy Cola finish and 3-ply white pickguard deliver stage-ready visual identity.

What Sets This Strat Apart

Two design choices push this guitar beyond typical entry-level Strats. An HSS layout pairs a ceramic Standard Humbucking bridge pickup with two Standard Single-Coil Strat pickups, delivering both humbucker chunk and classic Strat quack from one instrument. The 2-point tremolo with satin chrome steel block saddles holds tuning more reliably than older 6-screw vintage bridges.

Poplar Body, Gloss Polyurethane Finish

Poplar delivers balanced, present response without the heavy weight of denser hardwoods. The gloss polyurethane finish seals the body against sweat, strap wear, and daily practice dings.

• Body Material: Poplar — light, balanced tonewood for long sessions
• Body Finish: Gloss Polyurethane — durable sealed surface
• Pickguard: 3-Ply White — classic contrast against Candy Cola

Modern "C" Neck With Indian Laurel Fingerboard

The Modern "C" profile suits players wanting a slimmer, faster feel. Indian laurel has a darker, rosewood-like appearance and a satin urethane back finish that lets the hand glide during position shifts. A 241 mm radius flattens the curve enough for bending without choking chords.

• Neck Material: Maple — bright, snappy attack with strong note definition
• Fingerboard Material: Indian Laurel — dark, smooth surface
• Fingerboard Radius: 241 mm — modern curve for bending without choking
• Nut Width: 43 mm — comfortable for rhythm and lead

HSS Pickup Configuration and 2-Point Tremolo

An HSS layout gives a genuine tonal split: the bridge humbucker handles high-gain rock, while the middle and neck single-coils deliver bell-like clean tones. The 5-way blade switch adds two intermediate quack positions.

• Pickup Configuration: HSS — humbucker bridge, single-coil middle and neck
• Bridge Pickup: Standard Humbucking (ceramic) — high output for rock
• Bridge: 2-Point Tremolo with Satin Chrome Steel Block Saddles — smoother feel than 6-screw vintage
• Scale Length: 648 mm — standard Fender scale

Players Who Want a Real Fender Strat at a Real-World Price

This model is the right choice for guitarists wanting authentic Fender build quality without paying Player Series prices. It suits bedroom players stepping up from a Squier, gigging musicians needing a reliable backup, and tone-tinkerers wanting both humbucker chunk and Strat quack in one guitar. Players who solo high on the neck should note the 21-fret count.

The Return of the Fender Standard Series

The Stratocaster first appeared in 1954 as a radical redesign of the electric guitar, introducing the double-cutaway body, synchronized tremolo, and triple-pickup layout that became industry standards. In January 2025, Fender reintroduced the Standard Series at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, filling a price gap that opened when the Player Series moved upmarket.
